At the beginning of each assignment we work to create clear and measurable goals that will drive our future work. Through the course of our engagement I ask powerful questions to raise awareness; initiate assessment tools to solicit additional perspectives; share observations and challenge assumptions; recommend helpful resources; assign homework to be completed between sessions; provide structure to stay on track, and practices to help achieve sustainable change.
Unlike a consultant that is hired to “provide the answers”, I believe that with space, support, accountability and challenge, the coaching relationship encourages clients to come to their own answers. The relationship enables clients to explore the underlying beliefs and assumptions that drive their behaviors, raises self-awareness to help them identify when the behaviors become evident, and provides the structure and accountability to drive and sustain the changes they desire. I think of myself as a partner on your journey… we are both focused on achieving your goals!
I worked successfully in Corporate America for nearly 30 years in a variety of positions… from Internal Audit to Government Relations, to Media Relations to Chief of Staff (Vice President Human Resources) and Executive Staffing & Development. While my positions were varied and spanned a range of functional disciplines, they all shared a strong “people component”. Throughout the course of my career, I excelled in identifying strategies to help people work more effectively with and through others, and served as a coach and mentor to many. In more recent years I was also responsible for identifying and hiring executive coaches for both emerging and experienced leaders. While coaching was a natural component of each of my executive roles, I decided to pursue leadership coaching as a fulltime career in 2010. I received my formal training and certification in Leadership Coaching at Georgetown University in 2011, and established my practice, Turas Coaching, in 2012.
I work primarily with high potential individuals whose companies’ are invested in helping them be successful. I have the most experience in assisting clients build resilience, embrace wellness, and navigate through career / life transitions, as well as in helping executives live a more wholehearted and integrated life.
While I have a wealth of resources, assessment tools and processes to assist my clients on their journey, my most effective tools are my presence, compassion and positive energy. My clients have found me to be a trusted listener and collaborative partner who is able to provide direct feedback and challenge them in a supportive and nurturing relationship. My style is open, respectful, and caring, and conversations are held in a space of confidentiality and mutual trust.
Please contact me to set up an initial conversation to discuss the specifics regarding your coaching needs, to answer any questions you may have, and to ensure compatibility of our working styles and personalities. Once we decide to move forward, I will send you a proposal detailing the terms of our coaching agreement, including our respective roles and responsibilities and logistics.
While each coaching relationship is tailored to the specific needs of the client, most engagements take place during 12 one-hour meetings over a six-month period. While most conversations take place in-person, we can also arrange to meet by phone or Skype, depending on your location and preference.
